New this year we’re inviting all of our hometown dogs to dress in their very best Dutch costumes and join us in a parade! This event is sponsored by Faux Paws Bakery and Pella Historical Society and Museums.

The Dutch Doggie Parade will take place in the Thursday and Saturday afternoon parades of Tulip Time. Dogs must be leashed for the entire parade (flew leads and shock collars are not permitted). Dogs must be well-behaved and able to be around large crowds, children, and other dogs. Any dog or owner that is “out of line” will be asked to leave before or during the parade. Dogs must also be able to walk the entire length of the parade, be carried, or be pushed in a stroller. Be prepared to pick up after your dog before and during the parade, and be fine with many people taking pictures of you and your dog!

All dogs must be registered by Monday, April 30. Day-of registrations will not be accepted. You can find a registration form on the Pella Historical Society and Museums website: pellahistorical.org and mail it to Faux Paws Bakery, 621 Franklin Street, Pella, IA 50219, OR you can stop by the store and fill out a registration form there. Be prepared to have your rabies certificate or proof of vaccination for your dog. We will have all participants line up in front of Hospice House on Union Street at 3 p.m.

We are permitting one adult (18 or older) per dog, and one guest per adult. If you have more than one dog, you will need to register them separately and have adult walker for each one. All dogs and walkers MUST wear Dutch costumes (you do not need to have wooden shoes). Our sponsor, Faux Paws Bakery, will have Dutch dog costumes to purchase, or you may make your own.

We are hoping to see all of your smiling faces and wagging tails at the Dutch Doggie Parade at Tulip Time this May!
